A new Donaldson plant has started operations in León, Guanajuato. Seventy-five million dollars were invested in it and it is expected to create 600 new jobs.
Donaldson decided to open up a plant in Guanajuato to strengthen its presence in Latin America and bring high-quality filtration solutions for a variety of industries, including mining, agriculture, construction and transport. The new Donaldson plant in León is designed to serve the global market.
The new Donaldson facility in León is the largest in the region and it has state-of-the-art technology to manufacture liquid and air filters. “This strategic investment seeks to ensure a continuous flow in product supply and increase the service level to meet the market demands in Latin America, the United States and some regions in Europe and Asia,” mentions Mr. Guillermo Briseño Deibert, global president of Industrial Solutions at Donaldson Company.
It is estimated that 20 per cent of Donaldson’s total output remains in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Colombia, 60 per cent is destined for the US and the remaining 20 per cent is exported to Europe and Asia-Pacific, which consolidates its global position.
The new facility will be ranked high up amongst Donaldson’s plants worldwide once it fully consolidates, after an approximate five-year period, which will strengthen the company’s production capacity.
The 24,000 square meter industrial building, spread over a 6.3-hectare surface, will have 10 production lines for air and liquid filters for liquids such as lubricants, fuels and coolants.
Donaldson expects that the launch of the León plant will bring with it a significant growth in sales, annual double-digits are expected for 2026, exceeding the current levels while generating positive results for its clients and the organization alike.
“The launch of the León facility is testimony to Donaldson’s commitment with the region and our trust in Mexican talent and ability,” says Mr. Briseño Deibert.
On the other hand, Mr. Carlos Hernandez, Plants director at Donaldson, comments they are extremely proud of their service standard levels, which show over 94 per cent client satisfaction. “Our objective is to maintain this and even go above our excellence service standard in the León facility. We want to ensure our clients receive exceptional service and high-quality filtration solutions.”

More than forty years in Mexico
During the inauguration ceremony, the governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, reminisced that, almost a year ago during a US tour, the launch of the León plant was announced. “The good news was shared in Minneapolis, in the company of Mr. Tod Carpenter, Chairman of the Board and executive president at Donaldson Company”.
Donaldson’s relationship with Mexico started in 1979, and today they own five manufacturing plants in the country: three in Aguascalientes, where they also own a distribution center; one in Monterrey and the new facility in León.
Donaldson has over 100 years of experience and it offers a wide range of products and innovative filtration solutions. They have presence in more than 40 countries, have over 100 laboratories where they develop their products and employ more than 2,700 people in Latin America alone, with plants in Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Peru and Chile.
Donaldson started in the United States in 1915 and its founder, Frank Donaldson, invented the first effective air filter for a tractor. Some of their main clients are Caterpillar, Kohler, John Deere, Volvo, Toro, Bobcat, Doosan, Bobcat, CAT, Daimler, Navistar, Paccar, Kubota, Polaris, CNH Industrial and Kawasaki, to name a few.
The American company has registered more than 2,600 patents in the US and worldwide.
“Donaldson, which stands for innovation, is now a reality in Guanajuato. We are proud to say that we share the same vision, as the Manufacturing Valley is here in Guanajuato. The León facility means a brighter future for our young people and positions our State at the center of innovation in Mexico,” emphasizes governor Rodríguez Vallejo.
