There are more jobs available in Northern Mexico

  • During the first quarter of the year, there were 64,442 new jobs in Nuevo León, up by seven per cent compared to the same period in 2022, according to the online Career Center OCCMundial.

    These figures are in line with the information published by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Nuevo León: between January and June 2023, 63,342 new jobs became available. The State governor, Mr. Samuel García Sepúlveda, says these figures reflect the economic growth that Nuevo León is experiencing following the investments from Tesla, Kia Mexico and Ternium.

    Furthermore, the OCCMundial report reveals that the state accounts for 16 per cent of the job market nationwide. Nuevo León occupies the second place in terms of job creation, just below Mexico City (29 per cent) and above the State of Mexico (10 per cent), Jalisco (nine per cent) and Querétaro (five per cent).

    The 10 sectors that generated the most jobs in Nuevo León between January and June 2023 were: manufacturing, maintenance, financial and insurance services, IT, transport and warehousing, construction, health, education, hotels and restaurants. According to the OCCMundial report, the areas within the companies that generated the most job offers in Nuevo León during the first six months of 2023 were: Sales (17 per cent), Accounting and Finances (10 per cent), Management (10 per cent), Logistics-Transport-Distribution-Warehousing (10 per cent), Manufacturing-Production–Operations (nine per cent), IT (nine per cent), HR (seven per cent), Engineering (seven per cent), Customer Service (six per cent), and Construction-Real Estate (three per cent).

    In terms of the salaries offered, the report indicates that during the first six months of the year, 42 per cent of the salary offers ranged between MXN10,000 - MXN20,000, 37 per cent were above MXN20,000, 19 per cent accounted for salaries between MXN5,000 - MXN10,000 and two per cent for salaries up to MXN5,000. The 10 companies that offered the most jobs in Nuevo León between January and June 2023 according to www.occ.com.mx were Banca Afirme, Autofin, Teleperformance, Banorte, Uline, BanRegio, Soriana, Tecnológico de Monterrey, Femsa and Innova Sport.

    Top 10 most popular jobs

    According to OCCMundial, the 10 most popular jobs in Monterrey during the first six months of the year were the following:

    Out of the 1,351,088 users of the OCCMundial site that looked for a new or better job in Nuevo León, 44 per cent were women and 56 per cent men. Age ranges were as follows: 20 to 29 (40 per cent), 30 to 39 (37 per cent), 40+ (22 per cent), and 19 or less (one per cent).

    Of the total number of candidates from Nuevo León, 54 per cent of the candidates have completed university, 10 per cent have a high school diploma, 11 per cent have unfinished university studies, 11 per cent have postgraduate studies (Master’s degree or PhD) and nine per cent have vocational studies.

    The most popular specialization areas were management, engineering, sales, manufacturing-production-operations, logistics-transport-warehousing, and finance and accounting.
